Call of Duty®: Black Ops II review
Call of Duty®: Black Ops II
A Modern Warfare Masterpiece
Call of Duty: Black Ops II is the ninth installment in the Call of Duty series, developed by Treyarch and published by Activision. It was released in 2012 for PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and later on Wii U. The game is a direct sequel to Call of Duty: Black Ops and features various modes, including single player campaign, multiplayer and Zombies mode. This review will focus on this exciting first-person shooter (FPS) experience.
An Engaging Campaign with Gripping Storyline
The main attraction for many players will be the single player campaign featured in Call of Duty: Black Ops II. Players take control of two characters across two different periods as they battle through various levels set around the globe from 2025 to 1989. The story focuses on an assassination attempt against an influential figure from North Korea that could have catastrophic consequences if successful. As expected from the franchise, this thrilling storyline is accompanied by impressive visuals, intense action sequences and memorable characters, all contributing to making it one of the best campaigns ever seen in a Call Of Duty title.
However there are some drawbacks with Call Of Duty: Black Ops 2 that need mentioning, such as its uninspired multiplayer maps, which only offer slight variations between them, making it difficult to differentiate them from one another. Also, due to its age, some aspects, like graphics, don't compare favorably against modern day FPS titles such as Battlefield 4 or Halo 5 Guardians, which both feature more detailed textures and lighting effects than what can be found here.
Pros
- Great graphics and sound;
- Smooth, fast-paced and intense gameplay;
- Huge variety of weapons and equipment;
- Big, diverse maps;
- Highly replayable with lots of customization options;
- Satisfying zombie mode;
Cons
- Poor game balance, especially in multiplayer mode;
- Occasional glitches and technical issues;
- Lack of innovation compared to earlier Call of Duty games;
- Some maps can feel too large and empty;
- Campaign is short and lacks depth;
Despite some minor issues mentioned above, overall, gamers have praised Call Of duty: Black ops 2 for its engaging story line , great visuals , exciting action scenes along with, an enjoyable multiplayer experience . Many fans still consider it as oneof tthe most popular games within the series even years after its original release proving how timeless this classic title is.
